This Privacy Policy explains how Summer Skin Lab ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit summerskinlab.com, use the Skin Analyzer, place an order, or otherwise interact with our store and services (together, the "Services"). The Services are powered by Shopify.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services. By using the Services you accept this policy.

What we collect

Information you provide

  • Order & account details — name, email, phone, billing/shipping address, and items purchased.
  • Payment details — processed by Shopify Payments and partner processors. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Customer support messages — anything you send us by email, contact form, social DM, or chat.
  • Skin Analyzer inputs — the three photos you capture, plus the brief profile you enter (skin type, sensitivity, concerns). See the Skin Analyzer section below for full detail.

Information collected automatically

  • Device & browsing — IP address, device type, browser, referring page, pages viewed, time on site.
  • Cookies — small files that keep you signed in, remember your cart, support language preferences, and help us measure how the store performs.

The Skin Analyzer — photos & AI

The Skin Analyzer is the part of our Services that uses artificial intelligence ("AI") to read your skin and recommend products. Because this is a sensitive feature, we want to be very clear about how it works.

What we collect when you use the Analyzer

  • Three photos of your face — front, left profile, right profile — captured in your browser.
  • A short skin profile — type, sensitivity, primary concern(s), and any climate notes you choose to share.
  • Your locale (English or Khmer) so the results are returned in your language.

How we use it

  1. Your photos are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our analysis service, hosted on Cloudflare Workers in the region closest to you.
  2. The photos are passed to a third-party large-language-model provider (Anthropic, operating under their commercial Privacy Policy) that returns a structured skin assessment.
  3. We combine the assessment with your profile to produce your product routine, then return the result to your browser.

Retention

Photos are processed in-memory for the duration of a single analysis (typically a few seconds). We do not store them in your customer account, do not display them publicly, and do not share them with any party other than the model provider performing the analysis.

Optional consent: improving the model

Before you start an analysis we ask whether you agree that your photos may be used to improve Summer Skin Lab's AI skin-analysis model. Clicking "Agree & start camera" is your affirmative consent. If you agree:

  • Your photos may be retained — separated from your account identity — and used to train, evaluate or improve our model and related Services.
  • You may withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us (see Contact); we will delete photos linked to you that we still hold.

If you do not click "Agree & start camera" you cannot use the Analyzer — the consent and the action are the same thing. Your analyzer photos are never used to train any AI model belonging to a third party.

Your rights

  • You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • You can ask us to delete any analyzer photos you previously agreed to share.
  • You can withdraw the consent above for future analyses.

How we use your other personal information

  • Fulfil and ship orders, process returns, issue refunds.
  • Send order confirmations, shipping updates, and support replies.
  • Send marketing communications when you have opted in (you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email).
  • Detect fraud and protect the Services.
  • Improve the store, the Analyzer, and our product range.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify — store, checkout, payments, hosting.
  • Payment processors — Shopify Payments and any processor we add in the future.
  • Shipping carriers — to deliver your order.
  • Cloudflare — to serve our Analyzer endpoint at the edge.
  • Anthropic — to perform the AI skin assessment on your photos.
  • Analytics & advertising partners — only where you have consented to non-essential cookies.
  • Authorities & legal counsel — where we are required by law or to defend our rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

International transfers

Summer Skin Lab is based in Cambodia. Our partners (including Shopify, Cloudflare, and Anthropic) operate in multiple countries including the United States and the European Union. By using the Services you understand that your information may be transferred to, processed and stored in those countries.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (HTTPS, encrypted storage with our processors, access controls). No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data with care and respond promptly to any incident.

Children

The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the relevant age). Do not use the Skin Analyzer if you are below that age. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Cookies

We use essential cookies (cart, language, sign-in) and, where you consent, analytics and marketing cookies. You can manage cookie preferences via the consent banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated by email (if we hold your address) or a notice on the store.
